CONGRATULATION TO CHRIS ADRAIN ON SCORING MORE THAN 14000 RUNS (14084 ) FOR DUNGANNON AND TO CHRIS MEEKE ON JOINING THE 1000 RUNS, 100 WICKET CLUB, THE 11th DUNGANNON PLAYER TO DO SO.

MARK CREEVY ---BATTING CUP , CHRIS ADRAIN ---- MOST RUNS , JEFF MEEKE ------- BOWLING CUP and MOST WICKETS, BEST ALL ROUNDER

DUNGANNON STRUGGLED THROUGH THE SEASON AND IT WAS ONLY THROUGH THE DEDICATION OF JEFF MEEKE,WHO CAPTAINED THE TEAM ON TEN OCCASSIONS IN ADDITION TO ACTING AS SECRETARY, CHRIS ADRAIN ,CAPTAINED TWO GAMES ,WHO PLAYED IN ALL GAMES INCLUDING TWO WHEN HE WAS INJURED OPENING THE BATTING AND BOWLING AS WELL AS WORKING ON THE SQUARE, BILLY ADRAIN WORKING ON THE SQUARE WITH OLD MACHINERY AND IAN GILPIN WHO LOOOKED AFTER THE FINANCES, THAT THE CLUB MANAGED TO SURVIVE THE SEASON. CHRIS AND BILLY ALSO COACHED THE FEW YOUNG PLAYERS WHO TURNED UP ON PRACTICE NIGHTS AND THIS PROVED VITAL AS THEY OFTEN FILLED OUT THE TEAM. JEFF GAVE THEM ALL A CHANCE TO BAT AND BOWL WHICH MADE THE MARGINS OF DEFEAT LARGER THAN MIGHTT HAVE BEEN IF THE EXPERIENCED BOWLERS HAD BEEN BOWLED OUT. CHRIS ADRAIN , MARK CREEVY, STEVEN KELLY ANF JEFF MEEKE SCORED THE VAST MAJORITY OF THE RUNS BUT STEVE ONLY PLAYED 4 GAMES. THE BOWLING ATTACK WAS VERY WEEK WITH ONLY JEFF MEEKE, CHRIS ADRAIN AND STEVE HUNTER BEING EFFECTIVE. STEVE FORSYTH, GARETH LUCAS AND SCOTT DOUGHERTY WERE BADLY MISSED.

UNFORTUNATELY OUR YOUNG PLAYERS ARE FORCED TO TAKE JOBS AT THE WEEKEND TO PAY FOR UNIVERSITY FEES. SO MUCH FOR GOVERNMENT POLICY WHICH PAYS LIP SERVICE TO ENCOURAGING YOUNG PEOPLE TO LEAD A MORE ACTIVE LIFE STYLE. INSTEAD THEY HAVE MADE IT DIFFICULT FOR CLUBS TO KEEP AFLOAT .

EDUCATION POLICIES ( MULTIPLE EXTERNAL EXAMS OVER FIVE YEARS AT SCHOOL ) HAVE KILLED OFF ATHLETICS AND CRICKET IN SCHOOLS.

IF THEY WISH THE POPULACE TO LIVE A HEALTHY LIFE STYLE THEY HAVE TO CHANGE THEIR POLICIES SO THAT PUPILS ARE ENCOURAGED TO PLAY GAMES AND NOT BECOME OBEASE.
