The photos tell the tale of incompelance. The club expressed its reservations of running the event because of the use of heavy lorries on a sports ground but the Council knew best,. The result is that DCC ,the local football clubs and the general public will not be able to use the playing fields for recreation in the near future. Heavy rain made sure the event was extremely successful in destroying the outfield
Hopefully they may be available next year.
Events like this threaten the existence of cricket in the town 143 years after the club was founded.
The repair bill will be £100,000s
Thankfully the square was well protected following the damage caused by a previous event and suffered no damage.
We may be able to play next season if repair work can be carried out immediately but that must entail ploughing, levelling, drainage and seeding.

A GREAT DEAL OF EFFORT BY BILLY ADRAIN , CHRIS ADRAIN, IAN GILPIN AND OTHERS PLUS A LOT OF BADGERING THE COUNCIL ENABLED THE GROUND TO BE MADE PLAYABLE SO THAT FIVE HOME GAMES WERE PLAYED AND WON DURING JULY TO SEPTEMBER.
